Hey Nerds,
I just emerged from my weekend cocoon of blankets to discover it's Monday. Again. They keep happening. You'd think I'd be prepared by now but no, every Monday hits like a surprise party thrown by my enemies.
IN THIS ISSUE:
Wolverine game hints at Days of Future Past
WWE wrestler plays Henry Cavill's brother in Highlander
Duffer Brothers abandon Netflix for actual movie theaters
...and more
WOLVERINE GAME ADDS SENTINELS BECAUSE WHAT'S A WOLVERINE GAME WITHOUT WALKING TIN CANS TO SHRED
Marvel's Wolverine trailer showed Sentinels and everyone's immediately screaming "Days of Future Past" like we haven't recycled this plot more times than I've reheated the same coffee.
But what's Wolverine without giant purple robots to turn into scrap metal? That's like Batman without dead parents or Spider-Man without a guilt complex.
Now everyone's theorizing about dystopian futures where robots hunt mutants. Meanwhile, have you seen those Boston Dynamics dogs? We're already living it. They're just missing the lasers. Give it six months. Elon's probably got a PowerPoint ready.
WWE WRESTLER JOINS HIGHLANDER BECAUSE HENRY CAVILL NEEDS A BROTHER
Drew McIntyre will play Angus MacLeod, Henry Cavill's brother in the Highlander reboot nobody asked for but we're getting anyway.
Chad Stahelski directing means there'll be sword fights that last longer than my attention span. Which, to be fair, is about seven seconds unless there's cheese involved. Then it's eight.
DUFFER BROTHERS DITCHING NETFLIX FOR ACTUAL MOVIE THEATERS
The Stranger Things creators are leaving Netflix for Paramount in April 2026 because they want to make "big original films" in actual theaters.
Remember those? Dark rooms where strangers judge your snack choices while you pretend the movie's worth $20? The Duffers miss that. They "dreamed about it since they were little kids." You know what I dreamed about as a kid? Having money. Still dreaming.
"Theatrical is so important to us." That's rich coming from the guys who made us binge-watch children fighting demons in our underwear at 3am. But sure, theaters. Let's pretend that's different. Let's pretend we won't just wait three weeks for it to stream anyway.
FRIEREN SEASON 2 DROPS JANUARY 16 AND MY PRODUCTIVITY DIES WITH IT
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End returns January 16, 2026 at 11pm JST which is some ungodly hour here and I'll absolutely be awake for it.
The show about an elf who doesn't understand human emotions but somehow makes ME feel them. It's like therapy but animated and in Japanese.
"Most anticipated return" they're calling it. Everything's the most anticipated now. This morning my most anticipated event was coffee. It disappointed me. Like everything. Except Frieren. Frieren would never disappoint me.
JAMES GUNN WANTS BATMAN TO PUNCH MORE AND THINK LESS
Gunn says he wants a "fighter Batman" who's "just the brute" for the DCU's Brave and the Bold.
Punchy Batman who solves problems with his fists instead of his brain? So basically every Batman movie except the last one where he actually detected things. For five minutes. Then he punched stuff anyway.
"I like the detective Batman BUT..." There's always a but. In this case, it's punching. Batman punching things. Revolutionary.
SPEED ROUND BECAUSE MY ATTENTION SPAN DIED IN PARAGRAPH THREE
Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 drops October 29 with Steve Buscemi voicing someone because why not. George Takei's there too. It's like a retirement home for iconic voices.
X-Men '97 going annual which means every year we get more of Cyclops being wrong about everything while looking great in spandex.
Denise Gough joins Narnia to be "mean to children" which is just called "being honest with children" where I'm from.
Halo hits Netflix October 1 because even Netflix needs content nobody asked for. Maybe they'll renew it. Maybe they won't. Maybe it doesn't matter because we're all just cosmic dust pretending to have purpose.
CALENDAR
October 1, 2025 - Halo invades Netflix
October 29, 2025 - Star Wars Visions gets weird again
January 16, 2026 - Frieren returns to hurt us beautifully
April 2026 - Duffers abandon ship
Annually - X-Men '97 until heat death of universe
Got feelings about any of this?
Hit me up on Bluesky why Drew McIntyre in Highlander is either inspired casting or a war crime and I can't tell the difference anymore.
